02 – Product Definition (What Is It?)

H2: What Is Low-Iron Acoustic Glass?

Low-Iron Acoustic Glass is a high-transparency acoustic safety glass manufactured from ultra-clear (low-iron) float glass, bonded with an acoustic PVB interlayer—or assembled into an insulating glass unit (IGU)—to deliver both exceptional sound control and near-colorless visual clarity. Standard clear glass contains iron oxides that impart a greenish tint, especially visible at the edges and in thicker builds. By reducing iron content (Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.015%), low-iron glass achieves superior light transmittance and truer color rendering, making it the preferred choice for premium office pods, executive meeting spaces, and high-end architectural glazing where appearance matters as much as acoustics.

03 – Glass Structure

H2: Glass Structure & Composition

Acoustic Laminated Build (most common):

6 mm Low-Iron Tempered Glass
       ↓
Acoustic PVB Interlayer (0.76 / 1.14 / 1.52 mm)
       ↓
6 mm Low-Iron Tempered Glass
Acoustic Insulated Build (for higher STC + thermal):
6 mm Low-Iron Tempered Glass
       ↓
16 mm Argon Cavity
       ↓
6 mm Low-Iron Tempered Glass
Key Structural Elements:
  • Glass Type: Ultra-clear low-iron float (Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.015%); fully tempered or heat-strengthened
  • Interlayer: Acoustic PVB (standard) / Low-Iron (ultra-clear) PVB on request / SGP optional
  • Interlayer Thickness: 0.76 mm / 1.14 mm / 1.52 mm
  • Overall Thickness: ~10 mm to ~22 mm (laminated); ~24–32 mm (IGU)
  • Safety: Meets EN 14449 / ANSI Z97.1; post-breakage fragments remain bonded to PVB

05 – Acoustic Performance

H2: Acoustic Performance

  • Sound Transmission Class (STC): 39 – 47 (depending on configuration)
  • Weighted Sound Reduction Index (Rw): Up to 45 dB
  • Frequency Range: Optimized for 500 Hz – 4000 Hz (speech frequencies)
  • Test Standards: ASTM E90, EN ISO 10140, ISO 717-1
  • Performance Data: Available in downloadable datasheet (includes lab-tested reports for specific builds)

06 – Visual & Optical Performance(本页差异化模块)

H2: Visual & Optical Performance — The Low-Iron Advantage

ParameterLow-Iron Acoustic GlassStandard Clear Glass
Iron Oxide (Fe₂O₃)≤ 0.015%~0.08–0.12%
Visible Light Transmittance (VLT)88% – 91%80% – 85%
Haze≤ 0.5%≤ 1.0%
Edge ColorNear-colorless / neutralVisible green tint
Color RenderingTrue-to-life (high CRI feel)Slightly green-shifted
  • Ultra-Clear Aesthetics: Near-colorless appearance, especially valued in thin-profile premium pods where edge greening detracts from brand image.
  • Premium Brand Alignment: Preferred by designer-led pod manufacturers positioning on quality, transparency, and material honesty.
  • Optional Ultra-Clear PVB: Pair low-iron glass with low-iron (optically clear) PVB interlayer to eliminate any residual yellowness/haze in the bond line.

07 – Safety & Thermal

H2: Safety & Thermal Performance

  • Impact Safety: Classified as Class A / Class B (EN 12600), ANSI Z97.1 Category II
  • Post-Breakage: Glass fragments remain bonded to PVB interlayer—no shattering or fall-out
  • Tempered: Heat-treated for 4–5× strength vs. annealed glass; optional heat soak (EN 14179-1)
  • UV Blocking: Acoustic PVB blocks up to 99% of harmful UV radiation
  • Thermal (IGU build): U-value 1.2–2.8 W/m²K (argon-filled IGU); optional Low-E coating → see Low-E Acoustic Glass page
