Tempered Glass​ — also known as Toughened Glass​ in British English — is a safety glass processed by controlled thermal treatment . Quality float glass is heated to over 600℃​ (approximately 620-650℃, near its softening point), then rapidly and uniformly cooled with high-pressure air jets (rapid quenching). This process locks the glass surfaces in a state of high compression, while the core remains in compensating tension .

1. Cutting: Select quality clear or low-iron float glass; cut precisely to custom dimensions per client drawings
2. Edge Grinding: All edges fully ground and polished to eliminate micro-cracks — rough edges cause spontaneous breakage during tempering
3. Drilling & Notching: All holes and cutouts completed before tempering; hole edge distance ≥ 2× glass thickness
4. Washing: Automated washing for spotless surfaces
5. Tempering: Heated to 620-680℃ in professional furnace, then rapidly chilled by high-pressure air jets — forming surface compressive stress

Q2: Can tempered glass be cut?

A: No. Once tempered, all sizes and edges are fixed. Tempered glass cannot be cut, drilled, or ground . All processing must be done before tempering — another reason we strongly advise clients to provide precise dimension drawings and let us handle full pre-tempering CNC cutting, drilling, and edgework .

Q3: Is tempered glass soundproof?
